Fort Rucker is a U.S. Army post located mostly in Dale County, Alabama. Named after a Civil War officer, Confederate General Edmund Rucker, the post is the primary flight training base for Army Aviation. It is home to the United States Army Aviation Centre of Excellence and the United States Army Aviation Museum.

Spread throughout the year are many festivals such as the Soldier Show, Travel Extravaganza, Children’s Festival, Thunder on Tholocco, Lake Fest, Freedom Fest, Oktoberfest and Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. These festivals are bustling fun events filled with children’s activities, entertainment, merchandise vendors and festive foods.

West Beach opens each year at Lake Tholocco with the Lake Fest. A plethora of activities surround the lake and swimming areas including four water slides, a floating trampoline, canoe and paddleboat rentals, live music and endless competitions and sports.
