Kingman is the county seat and a city in Mohave County, Arizona. It is located at the junction of Interstate 40, US Route 93 and Arizona State Route 66.

Kingman is named after Lewis Kingman, who surveyed along the Atlantic and Pacific and supervised the building of the railroad from Winslow to Beale's Springs. The city was founded in 1882 upon very modest beginnings as a simple railroad siding. The city is rich in history with 40 buildings being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Kingman is best known for being a gateway to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada, two major gambling centers in America. Its close proximity to the Grand Canyon, California, the Colorado River and Lake Mead National Recreation Area make it a popular stop off for lovers of adventure and outdoor activities. The Hualapai Mountain Recreation Area features hiking trails, picnic sites, camping and cabins. It is also a popular venue for reunions, company events, and weddings.

Several Museums capture the essence of life gone by through education and entertainment. The Kingman Army Airfield Museum was originally one of the largest Army Air Corps training bases during WWII. The Mohave Museum of History and Arts provides an insight to the history of Mohave County and Northwest Arizona. The Powerhouse Route 66 Museum is filled with brilliantly colored murals, photos and life-size dioramas that follow the historical evolution of travel along the 35th parallel that became Route 66.

Festivals run throughout the year and include the Route 66 Fun Run, Festival of the Arts, Hualapai Mountain Arts & Crafts Fair, Mohave County Fair, The Kingman Street Drags and Kingman Cancer Car Arts & Crafts Festival.
