Lake Havasu City is a city in Mohave County, Arizona. It is located on the western edge of Arizona, South of Kingman and Bullhead and served by Lake Havasu City Airport.

It was founded in 1964 on the shores of Lake Havasu and the lake remains to this day an integral part of the City’s lifestyle. Lake Havasu is a large reservoir behind Parker Dam on the Colorado River and has a capacity of 648,000 acre feet. The concrete arch dam was built by the United States Bureau of Reclamation between 1934 and 1938 primarily to store water for pumping into two aqueducts.

The summer months bring students in large numbers for their Spring break festivities and water sports are focused around the scenic lake. Boating holidays are abundant between March and September and multiple professional fishing tournaments, custom boat regattas, the Western Winter Blast pyrotechnics convention, the Havasu Triathlon, and the Havasu Half Marathon centre themselves here. The city is also home to the International World Jet Ski Final Races. The colder months bring retirees from colder regions of the country and Canada and during this period multiple events are held on McCulloch Boulevard

Lake Havasu City is best known for being the home of the 1831 London Bridge. The city’s founder, Robert McCulloch, bought the bridge from the British government in 1967 for US $2.5 million when the original bridge was being replaced. The bridge is the second most visited tourist attraction in Arizona, behind the Grand Canyon and sits today across a 930 ft long man-made canal that leads from Lake Havasu to Thompson Bay.
