Prescott is a city in Yavapai County in Arizona. It is located in the Bradshaw Mountains of central Arizona, at an altitude of 5,400 feet. Downtown Prescott is constructed mostly of brick due to the rebuild after several major fires in the early part of the century. The central courthouse plaza is a lawn under huge old elm trees and not only is a popular meeting place for locals but also the stage for cultural events and performances showcased beautifully on warm summer nights.

Prescott has been called the most Midwestern-appearing city in the Southwest. Many of the homes here are Victorian styled and over 800 buildings are included on the National Register of Historic Places.

In the late 1980s, Arizona Governor Rose Mofford designated it "Arizona's Christmas City". The plethora’s of holiday activities run by the city and the surrounding communities over the Christmas season amaze both children and adults. Events here include the annual Gingerbread Village held at the Prescott Resort. This showcase claims to be the world’s largest gingerbread village, with about 100 houses of all shapes and sizes. The Holiday Light Parade and “Valley of Lights” are also held every year in Prescott Valley.

The close proximity of Prescott to major cities such as Phoenix and Glendale allow its residents and visitors a wide variety of attractions. The Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe reservation is located next to, and partially within, the borders of Prescott. The Tribe and its ancestors have lived in central and western Arizona for centuries and today occupy this reservation of about 1,500 acres. The Yavapai people are known for their exceptional baskets and the tribe operates two Prescott casinos, Bucky's Casino and Yavapai Casino.

Prescott Valley lies to the west of Prescott city and acts mainly as a bedroom community for Prescott, housing it many employees.
