El Dorado is a city in and the county seat of Union County in Arkansas. It is located at the southern edge of the state on the intersection of Interstates 82, 63 and 167.

The city is home to the headquarters of Murphy Oil Corporation, Deltic Timber Corporation, and Lion Oil Refinery. In January 2007, the Murphy Oil Corporation gave the announcement of an El Dorado Promise. This is a scholarship program that allows all El Dorado High School graduates who have been at the school since at least the ninth grade to attend any college in the country of their choice. Since this day, El Dorado has become a community of education.

El Dorado loves its festivals and runs several throughout the year. The Mayhaw Festival is hosted by the South Arkansas Historical Foundation each May and the Fantastic Fourth Celebration is held each July. This includes a 5k run, antique car show, and fireworks. The SouthArk Outdoor Expo is held each September and the two-day MusicFest each October. The MusicFest presents live musicians celebrating pop, rock, blues, and country music and takes up eight city blocks featuring over 30 acts on five stages. Various winter holiday events include the largest Christmas parade in the state, and a "Battle of the Bands”.

Felsenthal Natural Wildlife Refuge is a 65,000 acre refuge containing an abundance of water resources dominated by the Ouachita and Saline Rivers and the Felsenthal Pool. These wetlands, in combination with the pine and upland hardwood forest on the higher ridges, support a wide diversity of native plants and animals and are educational and appealing tourist area. The city hosts a community college, South Arkansas Community College nicknamed "Southark", as well as a symphony and an arts center. It is home to two Golf Courses, El Dorado Golf & Country Club and the Lions Club Municipal Golf Course.
