Harrison is a city in and the county seat of Boone County in Arkansas. It is located in the north western part of the state, east of Fayetteville and Springdale. Harrison is the principal city of the Harrison Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Boone and Newton counties. Boone County was formed during reconstruction after the civil war and the city was named after a Union Officer and town surveyor, L. LaRue Harrison. Today the city’s economy is strong and diverse. Each May, around the banks of Lake Harrison and the downtown historic square, Harrison hosts it annual Crawdad Days Festival.
