Little Rock is the capital and the most populous city in Arkansas and also the county seat of Pulaski County. It is located on the southbank of the Arkansas River in the central part of the state and is surrounded by several other smaller cities such as Jacksonville, North Little Rock, Cabot and Sherwood. The Arkansas Museum of Discovery features hands-on exhibits in the fields of science, history and technology and the Historic Arkansas Museum exhibits a collection of paintings, furniture, silver, pottery, textiles and firearms made by Arkansas artists and artisans over the past two hundred years. The state's largest art museum is the Arkansas Arts Center. Within its has eight art galleries, Van Gogh and Rembrandt works are displayed beside impressive collections of drawings, paintings and children's theatre productions.
