Magnolia is a city in Columbia County in Arkansas. It is located in southwest Arkansas at an average altitude of 336 ft above sea level and at the junction of Interstates 19, 70, 82 and 371. The city is named for the one-hundred-and-fifty-year-old Magnolia trees that surround the downtown courthouse. Magnolia is known for its natural beauty and locally for its downtown shopping on the square. Colourful huge murals decorate the area celebrating the city, its history and its people.

The city was founded in 1853, incorporated in 1858, and grew slowly as an agricultural and regional cotton market. The Magnolia Oil Field, discovered in 1938, became the largest producing field during the early years of World War II and bought national significance and notoriety to Magnolia. Magnolia developed into a heavy manufacturing city producing steel, lumber, aluminium, bromine, rubber coated products and fuel cells for the military.

Outdoor recreation in Magnolia is plentiful. Lake Columbia is a 3000-acre impoundment stretching for six miles along Beech Creek. It lays to the west of the city and is a favoured water sport and fishing location. Logoly State Park include group camping sites, a bathhouse with hot showers, picnic sites, playgrounds, trails, and a visitor centre with exhibits and an indoor classroom.

Magnolia is home to the Magnolia Blossom Festival and World Championship Steak Cook-off. Over 40,000 people attend this event annually and enjoy the wide variety of arts and crafts, parades and Pageants. The festival also includes various vendors, music acts, a 5K Race, Sidewalk Art Show, Antique Car and Motorcycle shows and a fishing Tournament. Perhaps the most popular aspect of the Blossom festival is the World Championship Steak Cook-off. More than 5000 steaks are cooked to perfection on over 50 grills of all sizes. Standing in the city square and smelling the air is an experience in itself.
