Avon is a Home Rule Municipality and the most populous town in Eagle County in the state of Colorado. It is located neatly nestled in the Eagle River Valley along Interstate 70, U.S. Routes 6 and 24, and the Eagle River.

Known as the “Heart of the Valley” for its geographic location as well as its strong sense of community and family-friendly atmosphere, Avon offers a small mountain town atmosphere to its 6,500 year-round residents as well as its 3,500 part-time residents. The town serves as a gateway to the world-class Beaver Creek Resort and is eight miles west of world-famous Vail.

The winter months bring snow lovers to all types of snow-oriented activities, including ice-skating and old-fashioned pond hockey on Nottingham Lake. Avon is a great base for launching mountain adventures in skiing and hiking. Summer month visitors can relish in the abundance of outdoor recreational activities including fishing, paddleboat rides, family events, parks, trails, and a mix of local and national shops and restaurants. Festive events include the Salute to the USA, the largest fireworks to display in the Colorado Rockies; Avon’s Annual Egg Hunt; Dunk-n-Dash, a duathlon race series; and Lakeside Cinema, which offers free family movies in the park.

Avon’s Recreation Center is home to a 140 foot indoor waterslide, 5-lane lap pool and state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Just down the road from this is Avon’s new Whitewater Park. The three river features provide beginning, intermediate and advanced surfing opportunities for kayakers as well as a public viewing area.
