Fort Collins is a Home Rule Municipality and university town in Larimer County in the state of Colorado. It is located on the Cache La Poudre River along the Colorado Front Range nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Colorado’s State Capitol Denver is just 57 miles south.

Fort Collins was originally founded as a military outpost of the United States Army. Today the Downtown area presents the town’s historical beginnings with a beautiful display of older buildings and historical monuments mixed with an outdoor mall, many shops and restaurants.

Fort Collins is home to the Colorado State University. This internationally recognized faculty and top-ranked University offers over 150 degree programs of study in 8 Colleges and is ranked in the Top Tier of public and private doctoral universities in the U.S. News and World Report rankings of America's Best Colleges and Universities. It is located right in the middle of the city but also has several other smaller campuses throughout Fort Collins.

Fort Collins has a thriving beer culture. There are five microbreweries with New Belgium being the largest. National distribution covers America from California to east of the Mississippi. They are powered completely by wind energy and methane recycled from the brewing process and prides themselves upon being a shining example of a socially responsible company that takes care of its employees and the community. The largest brewer in the world, Anheuser-Busch, also has a brewery in the city. Fort Collins is home to The Colorado Brewer's Festival each June. The festival features beers from as many as 45 brewers from the state of Colorado and averages around 30,000 attendees.

The Cache La Poudre canyon just outside of town offers excellent fly fishing for wild rainbow and brown trout. The river in town is popular for swimming and tubing and whitewater rafting is available further upstream.

Mountain Whitewater offers rafting adventures on the Cache La Poudre River near Estes Park Colorado. It proudly uses a special permit from the Roosevelt National Forest allowing access to the Poudre’s exceptional wilderness. Coloradoans consider it the best canyon and river in Colorado.
