Longmont is a Home Rule Municipality in Boulder and Weld counties in state of Colorado. It is located in the north-central part of Colorado 37 miles Northwest of Denver and sits at an elevation of 4,979 feet above sea level. The eastern half of Boulder County is rolling plains, and the western half is mountainous. Boulder County has a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains.

Longmont was founded in 1871 and became the first planned community in Boulder County, the city streets being laid out in a grid plan in a square mile. The city originally prospered as an agricultural community, slowly shifting over years to computer technology based industries including companies like Seagate and Maxtor. The downtown area has seen a vibrant revival in the last decade. Over 1500 acres of parks and over 300 days of sunshine each year make Longmont the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Boulder County maintains over 80 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and nature photography. Longmont is located close to winter skiing facilities and displays its diverse fauna and flora along windy rivers and beautiful parklands.

Longmont and its county host several festivals through the year. Artwalks transform downtown businesses into galleries and feature artists, art exhibits, children’s activities and live theatre and music. The Boulder County Fair, Livestock show and Rodeo is held each summer and celebrates farming and ranching traditions that began over 130 years ago. The Boulder County Fairgrounds come alive with a carnival, rodeo, horse and livestock shows, demolition derby, garden tractor pull, salsa contest and the monster truck and freestyle motocross national tour.

The Handweavers Guild of Boulder display a diverse array offhand crafted clothing, hats, basketry, jewellery, hand-spun and dyed yarn skeins, pillows, sculptures, dolls, quilts and holiday items at the Fiber Art and Sale Event. Instructive demonstrations, juried shows and other special events attract lovers of fine work in to buy, learn and sell. Other events include the Longmont Farmers Market held each Saturday from May, and the Strawberry Festival and Antique Show held each spring.
