Morrison is a Home Rule Municipality in Jefferson County in the state of Colorado. It is located just 30 minutes from downtown Denver and sits on the west side of the Hogback rock formation providing separation from metropolitan neighbours. This remote mountain town feel invokes their nickname "The Nearest Faraway Place".

Morrison is known best for the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. Originally known as the Garden of Angels, Red Rocks is a geologically formed, open-air Amphitheatre consisting of two, three hundred-foot monoliths named Ship Rock and Creation Rock. Musical performers have been drawn to this area since before the turn of the century. The majestic setting of the Amphitheatre, along with the panoramic view of Denver, makes for a breathtaking scene. Spectators can marvel at the towering red sandstone rocks whilst listening to naturally amplified music. Hiking and biking trails, picnic spots, visitor center and an on-site restaurant are also in the Red Rocks Park.

Fans of natural history will find plenty to satisfy their curiosity in Morrison. Geographic features and fantastic dinosaur finds are displayed at the Morrison Natural History Museum and Dinosaur Ridge. In 1877 at Arthur Lakes, the remains of the dinosaurs Stegosaurus Armatus and Apatosaurus Ajax were discovered. The majority of these fossils were shipped the Museum of Natural History in New Haven, Connecticut and these finds figured in the 19th century "Bone Wars" between rival palaeontologists Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh. Cretaceous age dinosaur tracks and one of Lakes' historic dig sites can still be viewed on what is now known as Dinosaur Ridge east of Morrison. The Morrison Natural History Museum in Morrison houses and displays some fossils found by Lakes and have begun reworking Lakes' original digs.

Morrison is also home to several world-class restaurants and shops located along historic Bear Creek Ave. The city boasts two top-notch Bed and Breakfasts: the Horton House and the Cliff House Lodge, as well as extensive hiking, biking, and horseback trails.
