Enfield is a town in Hartford County in the state of Connecticut. It is located is 8 miles south of Springfield, Massachusetts and 82 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts. The town sits on the border with Longmeadow, Massachusetts to the north, Somers to the east, East Windsor to the south, and the Connecticut River to the west. Enfield is included in the Hartford metropolitan area.

Enfield once had booming carpet and gunpowder industries. Orrin Thompson began the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company in the Thompsonville section of town, employing many Swedish immigrants. The company is still in operation today. Colonel Augustus Hazard founded the gunpowder industry in Enfield and was instrumental in implementing water power and other technologies to the town. Hazard's company was among the biggest gunpowder suppliers for the American Civil War.

Today the Town of Enfield is a diverse and active community located on the scenic Connecticut River. Connecticut's River Valley offers an unique mix of city and countryside living. This is highlighted by sparkling rivers and shoreline, great access to retail, commerce and industrial areas and excellent municipal amenities.

Enfield was home to the U.S. headquarters of Danish plastic building toy manufacturer Lego, which was also the town's largest employer until June 2006 where the company laid off over 290 employees outsourced jobs to Mexico. The town was once the home to the headquarters of the Casual Corner clothing company and currently is the location of Hallmark cards, the towns second-largest employer.

Enfield offers a range of entertainment facilities along with numerous shopping centres including the Enfield Square mall. The Old Town Hall Museum is filled with an extensive collection of items important to local history including bottles, clothing, farm implements and items from Enfield’s shaker settlements, along with items from the carpet mills of Thompsonville and the Hazard gun powder factories. The building is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Other attractions include Martha Parsons House, Osborn Prison Farm, Pearl Street Branch Enfield Public Library, Crescent Lake, Powder Hollow Park and the Grassmere Golf Course.
