is a town in Fairfield County in the state of Connecticut. It is located less than 6 miles south-west of Bridgeport and 46 miles north-east of New York, New York. The town is part of the Bridgeport metropolitan statistical area. It is situated on the shoreline, along the Gold Coast of Connecticut, between the two affluent neighbours of Southport and Greenfield Hill. The town has a total area of 31.3 square miles of which 30.0 square miles of it is land and 3.4 square kilometres of it is water. The Mill River flows through the town and onto feed Lake Mohegan.

Fairfield has a low crime rate, excellent public school system, suburban character, scenic location and close proximity to New York City, making it a very desirable place to live in. It considers itself the "dogwood capital of the world," and each spring a Dogwood Festival takes place in the Greenfield Hill neighbourhood.

Fairfield offers a wealth of recreational opportunities from a variety of water sports at the Pequot Yacht Club and the South Benson Marina and along the beaches, to world class facilities at The Pine Creek Park Golf Course, Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course and H Smith-Richardson Golf Club.

The Fairfield Museum and History Center was established in 2007 by the 103-year-old Fairfield Historical Society and celebrates and cultivates the elements that create and bind community. Features include exhibition galleries, a special collection library and reading room, a family education center, an 80 seat theatre overlooking Fairfield’s Town Green and a museum shop, all covering a 13,000 square foot area.

Lake Mohegan is a popular destination for hiking and is situated in the middle of town. The Cascades waterfalls within the park are a beautiful local attraction. Two shopping districts in town include the Post Road and Black Rock Turnpike. Other attractions include Southport Beach, Connecticut Audubon Birdcraft Museum, Aloysisus P. Kelley Theatre, South Benson Marina and the Greenfield Hill Historic District.
