Newington is a town in Hartford County in the state of Connecticut. It is located 3 miles north-east of New Britain and 93 miles NE of New York, New York. The town benefits from easy access to the nearby cities and towns that it shares the Hartford metropolitan area with.

The history of Newington begins with local woodcutters from Wethersfield being sent to Newington in the 1600s to harvest timber. The level land was rich with glacial deposits and attracted permanent settlers. In 1721 the community was legally named Newington which according to some sources meant the “new town in the meadow." It became officially incorporated as a town in 1871.

Attractions in and around Newington include the Kellogg-Eddy House and Museum, Jefferson House, Newington Plaza Shopping Center, Rockhole Brook and the Newington Junction West Historic District. Mill Pond Falls is the smallest natural waterfall in the country and the town celebrates this each fall during the Waterfall Festival. The 16-foot high falls are situated in central Newington at Mill Pond Park. They are encircled by a walking path with a footbridge that crosses over the fall and have an observation area with benches at the base. The park has become a popular attraction with local residents wishing to enjoy dogs walking, ice skating, jogging, and picnicking. The town seal also depicts Mill Pond Falls.
