North Haven is a suburban town in New Haven County in the state of Connecticut. It is located north of New Haven in the southern central part of the state. North Haven is less than 10 minutes from downtown New Haven and Yale University. It is also near Quinnipiac University and Sleeping Giant State Park.

Reverend James Pierpont of New Haven willed 8 acres of land to his neighbours in the Northeast Parish in 1714 "provided those neighbours will set their meeting house there and make their training and burying there." The first meeting house was completed in 1722 and the area came to be known as North Haven, officially becoming incorporated as a town in 1786. After World War II, factories were set up in this town and the population increased dramatically. New England town still retains its town meeting form of government despite the rapid growth experienced through the past few decades.

A North Haven architect by the name of Solomon Linsley, built both the Memorial Town Hall and the new District 4 School in the 1880’s . Linsley designed and built thirty-two Victorian style houses and public buildings here in total, many of which have been preserved beautifully and are still functioning today.

North Haven and nearby attractions include the Eli Whitney Gun Factory, Peabody Museum of Natural History, Calvary Temple, Pardee Rose Garden, Five-mile Brook and Wharton Brook State Park. The Eli Whitney Museum and the Peabody Museum of Natural History display exhibits illustrating the historical background of the region.

The town of North Haven host various festivals through the year including the Connecticut Irish Festival and the Feis & Agricultural Fair. The North Haven Fair brings locals and visitors together to enjoy fun for the whole family including food, rides, entertainment and music.
