Old Saybrook is a town in Middlesex County in the state of Connecticut. It is located on the West side of the river, 105 miles from Boston, 101 miles from New York and 45 miles from Hartford, with easy access to I-95 and Route 9. It contains the incorporated borough of Fenwick, as well as the census-designated places of Old Saybrook Center and Saybrook Manor.

Old Saybrook dates back to 1635 when it began as an independent colony at the mouth of the Connecticut River, known as the Saybrook Plantation. It was incorporated on July 8, 1854 and is one of the oldest towns in the state.

On October 9, 1701 the Collegiate School of Connecticut was chartered in Old Saybrook. It moved to New Haven in 1716, and was later renamed Yale University. The Saybrook College of Yale University Seal is used as the Town logo on its letterhead and town-owned vehicles. Saybrook College is one of the 12 residential colleges at Yale University and was founded in 1933 by partitioning the Memorial Quadrangle into two parts: Saybrook and Branford.

A large number of attractions lay within and around Old Saybrook including casinos, theatres, beautiful beaches, vistas, several parks, marinas and an eclectic collection of shops and restaurants on Main Street and nearby. In recent years the former town hall building has been restored its original use as a theatre. It was completed in 2009 and named "Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center and Theatre". The structure was originally built in 1901 and was a theatre until the 1940s. Completed renovations create seating for 250 and a Hepburn memorabilia display.

Other attractions include the Mystic Seaport & Aquarium, General William Hart House, Connecticut River Museum, Gillette Castle, Lake Rockview, Dickersons Pier and Fort Saybrook Monument Park. Festivals include the Memorial Day parade, the summer Arts and Craft show, a Taste-of-Saybrook fest, Summer Pops Concert and Fireworks and the annual Torchlight Muster and Carol Sing.
