West Hartford is a town in Hartford County in the state of Connecticut. It is located 100 miles southwest of Boston, Massachusetts , 95 miles northeast of New York, New York and is part of the Hartford metropolitan statistical area.

West Hartford was originally created in 1672 and officially incorporated as the Town of Hartford in 1854. Today West Hartford is primarily an upmarket inner-ring suburb of Hartford with a downtown area called West Hartford Center. This has been the community's hub since the late 17th century.

One of the most popular destinations for visitors to the area is the Elizabeth Park. Located in Hartford and West Hartford, the park covers 102 acres and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1894 financier Charles M. Pond of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad and Hartford National Bank, bequeathed his estate to the City of Hartford with the stipulation that it be named for his deceased wife, Elizabeth. The city took possession in 1897 and in 1904 the park's first superintendent, Theodore Wirth, created its renowned Rose Garden. It is the oldest municipal rose garden in the United States showcasing about 15,000 bushes of 800 rose varieties. Today many pathways meander today through garden areas, century-old Lord and Burnham greenhouses, lawns, bowling greens, tennis courts, a picnic grove, and around a scenic pond.
