Woodbridge is a town in New Haven County in the state of Connecticut. It is located 5 miles north-west of New Haven and 66 miles north-east of New York, New York.

Woodbridge formed as an independent parish using land from parts of Milford and New Haven in 1739 and was named “Amity”. In 1742 the Rev. Benjamin Woodbridge was ordained in the community and the town took his name. Woodbridge town center is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Woodbridge Green Historic District.

Today Woodbridge is one of the wealthiest towns in Connecticut and is home to many of the faculty of Yale University. Yale College tutor and New Haven entrepreneur Thomas Darling, moved to town in 1774. His original home has been maintained and now stands as the Darling House Museum, operated by the Amity & Woodbridge Historical Association.

The Town of Woodbridge is a suburban community with old-fashioned small town charm. The rural-like community consists of rolling green countryside dotted with one-family homes on mostly large sections of land. An extensive system of preserved hiking trails runs through the area. Possibly the most known of these is the 93-acre Alice Newton Street Memorial Park and the 22-acre Wepawaug Falls area. The town has an excellent reputation for schools and multi-faceted recreations programs. Its industrial sites have direct access to major transportation arteries and residents are within minutes of recreational, cultural, educational, and medical and entertainment facilities available in New Haven.

Other attractions in and around Woodbridge include Cromwell Meadows Wildlife Management Area, Connecticut Audubon Birdcraft Museum, Wadsworth Falls State Park, Gunn Memorial Library & Museum, Kettletown State Park and the Watertown Historical Society Museum.
