Seaford is a city in Sussex County in the state of Delaware. It is located along the Nanticoke River about 16 miles west from Georgetown and 70 miles SE of Baltimore, Maryland. Seaford is the principal city of the Seaford Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The land at the head of the Nanticoke River has long been inhabited by mankind. The first settlement in the area now known as Seaford was named "Martin's Hundred". The town became incorporated in 1865 with the help of a Councilman - Alderman Form of government, which is still present today. The majority of Seaford’s settlers were English, however many also came from Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

Seaford is one of seven Main Street communities that participated in the Delaware Main Street Program. The program was developed in the 1970s by the National Trust Main Street Center with the aim of upgrading and preserving historic small town structures and infrastructure. 1999-2000 bought a $1.5 million upgrade of landscaping, street paving, sidewalks, lamp posts, street lights, and utilities to the city.

Seaford is considered a desirable place to live, work and play. This is due to its close proximity to the river and recreational beaches of the East Coast. The Seaford Museum is located in the former post office and stores many items of historical significance, collections and exhibits highlighting the story of Seaford from the Native Americans to present day.

Other Seaford and nearby attractions include the Marvel Museum, Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, Seaford Museum, Kiwanis Park and Poplar Hill Mansion. Soroptimist Park and the Williams Pond Park are also interesting outdoor tourist locations. Seaford hosts the Towne and Country Fair and the Eastern Shore AFRAM Festival every year. The Seaford Christmas Parade is the biggest Christmas Parade on the Delmarva Peninsula. It is held at night time on the first Saturday of each December.
