Kendall is a census-designated place and an unincorporated suburban Miami community in Miami-Dade County in the state of Florida. It is located on the edge of the Florida Everglades about 10 miles southwest of Miami along U.S. Route 1.

Much of the land now called Kendall was originally purchased from the State of Florida in 1883 by the Florida Land and Mortgage Company. Kendall was named for Henry John Broughton Kendall who moved his company to the area in the 1900s and was responsible for mapping and surveying this and many other parts of the state. Today Kendall is home to one of the largest Colombian American populations in the State of Florida.

Kendall is home to the Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport and is served by the Miami Metrorail at two stations: Dadeland North Station and Dadeland South Station.

Metrozoo is one of Kendall’s main tourist attractions. This innovative world renowned facility showcases in free-to-roam habitats within almost 300 acres of jungles, forest and trails surrounded by moats. Two spectacular features are the rare White Bengal Tigers and world-class aviary.

The Greater Miami area is well known for its beaches and great tourist attractions including the Bass Museum of Art, Coral Castle, Everglades Alligator Farm, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Biscayne National Park, Lowe Art Museum, Parrot Jungle Island, Barnacle State Historic Park, and the Miami Seaquarium which is home to annual events including an Easter Egg Hunt, Monster Splash Halloween Bash and Winter Kids Fest.
