Pembroke Pines is a city in Broward County in the state of Florida. It is located on the southern Atlantic Coast twenty minutes south of Fort Lauderdale, and twenty five minutes north of Miami.

The town started as agricultural land occupied by dairy farms and was then known as the “Village of Pembroke Pines.” The town became incorporated as a city in 1960 and according to folk lore was named for its location along Pembroke Road and the areas abundance of pine trees. A population boom occurred during the 1990’s due to several disastrous hurricanes in neighbouring areas. Today city residents benefit from easy access to transportation routes and facilities. Within short drive you can reach Port Everglades, the Port of Miami, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and the Miami International Airport. The US highway 27 gives direct access to the center of the state and Lake Okeechobee areas whilst the Florida Turnpike and I-75 open up access to other parts of Florida.
