West Palm Beach is a city in Palm Beach County in the state of Florida. It is located 70 miles north of Miami and 46 miles north of Fort Lauderdale. West Palm Beach is the oldest incorporated municipality in South Florida.

Henry Flagler originally founded the city was in1894 with the sole intention of housing servants working at hotels on nearby Palm Beach. The city underwent a population surge in the 1920’s as part of the Florida land boom and many of the city’s historic structures and preserved neighbourhoods were constructed. The Palm Beach Mall opened in 1960 as the County's first enclosed shopping mall. From this, to the opening of The Donald Trump's City Place and the preservation and renovation of 1920s architecture in the downtown area, Palm Beach’s downtown area has transformed into a quality entertainment and shopping district. On the city’s south side is a unique attraction of over 45 antique shops known as Antique Row. Several Antique magazines, collectors and societies have heralded Antique Row as one of the east coast's premier antique districts.

West Palm Beach has a subtropical climate that is beneficial to hosting an array of outdoor attractions. Florida’s east coast is known as a playground for those wishing to fish, swim, jet ski, parasail, sunbathe and go boating. The warmer weather is ideal for festivals and outdoor events therefore many are held within the city throughout the year. SunFest is a music, art and waterfront festival founded in 1982 to attract visitors to the area during the ‘shoulder season’. Today more than 275,000 people attend annually to enjoy live performances, festival food and family fun. Other celebrations include the Palm Beach International Film Festival, The National Horse Show, and the weekly Clematis by Night on downtown's Clematis Street.
