Alpharetta is a city in north Fulton County in the state of Georgia. It is located 5 miles north-east of Roswell and 23 miles north of Atlanta. The city is located in the Atlanta metropolitan area.

The city of Alpharetta began as a tiny village named New Prospect Camp Ground. It was a trading post where Indians and white settlers exchanged their goods along a Cherokee Indian Trail between the North Georgia Mountains and the Chattahoochee River. In 1858 the cotton farming town was chartered and renamed Alpharetta, which translates from Greek to mean first and town. Despite Alpharetta's slow initial growth, it is today one of the fastest growing communities in the South.

Alpharetta is known as one of the most affluent communities in the state with a population that swells immensely during the workday due to the large concentration of businesses located within the city. Its amenities and infrastructure and well maintained and plentiful and the city is a desirable location for both living and working.

One of Alpharetta most interesting attractions is the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre which was opened in 2008. Set on 45 acres of beautifully-landscaped wooded land in Encore Park, this state of the art venue holds 12,000 people seated and hosts a range of events from concerts to community events. It is characterized by its distinctive fan-shaped roof and serves as the summer home of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

North Point Mall is a recently developed Mall situated just off GA 400. An array of retail opportunities cover over 1.3 million square feet inside the Mall whilst several other retail and dining options lie along North Point Parkway.
