Dunwoody is a city in DeKalb County in the state of Georgia. It is located at the northern tip of the County 17 miles north of the state capital Atlanta. It is also a northern suburb of Atlanta.

The Dunwoody area was pioneered in the early 1830s and is named for Major Charles Dunwody. On April 9, 1998, a major tornado tore through parts of Dunwoody damaging thousands of homes and destroying tens of thousands of native forest trees. Because the vast majority of the tornado's damage occurred here, it became known as the "Dunwoody tornado". The city only recently became incorporated on December 1, 2008.

Dunwoody is home to top-rated restaurants from fine dining to casual deli-gourmet. Many fine eateries are located in the shopping districts of Perimeter Mall, Perimeter Place, Park Place Plaza, Dunwoody Village, Georgetown Area and the Williamsburg Shopping Center. Perimeter Mall and almost half of the Perimeter Community Improvement District is a self-taxing district of shopping and office buildings located in Dunwoody.

The Dunwoody Nature Center is a top rated attraction that was incorporated in 1992 and reaches 25,000 park visitors annually.
