Martinez is a census-designated place in Columbia County in the state of Georgia. It is located on the eastern edge of the state 8 miles north of Augusta. Martinez is an affluent suburb of Augusta and is part of the Augusta, Georgia metropolitan area.

Martinez was founded by Cuban man Jose Martinez Y' Saldivar. Folklore claims he bought a plantation in Columbia County and named it El Cordero Ranch. His four daughters subsequently married four very wealthy men. The El Cordero Ranch, home, several buildings, barns and original water tower still stand today.

Residents of Martinez have easy access to all of Augusta’s recreational and entertainment facilities including Fort Gordon, Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History, Imperial Theatre, Sacred Heart Cultural Center, the Augusta Ballet, Choral Society, and the Children's Chorale.

Augusta stands today as a medicine and manufacturing centre. Although officially the city is nicknamed The Garden City of the South, it is known more often as the Masters City due to the Augusta National Golf Club hosting the annual Masters Golf Tournament, an official money event on the PGA Tour.
