Newnan is a city in Coweta County in the state of Georgia. It is located about 30 miles southwest of Atlanta in the north-west part of the state.

The City of Newnan was named after General Daniel Newnan, a North Carolina native who became Georgia Secretary of State and a United States Congressman. It was incorporated in 1828 and attributes its steady growth to its cotton growing beginnings and its close proximity to the state capital.

Newnan today boasts small-town charm, historic character, and friendly people whilst providing many of the amenities of a metropolitan area. Cultural facilities include The Newnan Theatre Company which has produced shows year round for over thirty years. They have an active year round youth group and host the largest summer drama camp in the area. The Wadsworth Auditorium is a 600 seat auditorium reserved for civic gatherings, school performances, and community shows. The facility is named after Charles Wadsworth, a Newnan resident and world renowned pianist who performs a yearly concert in Newnan.
