Coeur d'Alene is a city in and the county seat of Kootenai County in the state of Idaho. It is located on the north shore of 25 miles long Lake Coeur d'Alene, in the central northern part of the state about 30 miles east of Spokane, Washington. Coeur d’Alene is the principal city of the Coeur d'Alene Metropolitan Statistical Area and is the largest city in the northern Idaho Panhandle.

The city is more often known as the "Lake City," or simply called by its initials "CDA". Its name comes from the Coeur d'Alene People who once occupied the land along the rivers and lakes of the region. The name translated means Heart of an Awl.

Coeur d'Alene Coeur d'Alene sits on the western edge of the Coeur d'Alene National Forest and has been labelled "a little slice of Heaven". The surrounding forests contain several lakes and campgrounds, giving the city a naturalist green profile. Two major ski resorts are located nearby, the Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg to the east, and the Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort in Sandpoint to the north.

Coeur d'Alene presents itself as a lively metropolitan full of small town flavour and big city values. It is known in sporting circles as home city to the Ironman Coeur d'Alene which is an Ironman Triathlon held each June starting at the Coeur d'Alene resort.

The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course is considered by many to be one of the best courses in the country and features a unique 14th hole, the world's only movable floating green.
