Hailey is a city in and the county seat of Blaine County in the state of Idaho. It is located just south of Sun Valley in the Wood River Valley area, which is positioned in the centre of the state.
Hailey sits at an elevation of 5330 feet above sea level and is home to the Friedman Memorial Airport. The city is named after John Hailey, a two-time Congressional delegate from the Idaho Territory.
Hailey is a mountainous area surrounded by the Sawtooth National Forest. Tourists visit the area in the winter months to enjoy the excellent skiing and snowboarding resources. Rotarun Ski Hill is Hailey’s own ski mountain, which is smaller than its neighbour Sun Valley Resort. Other mountains nearby are Carbonate, Quigley, Red Devil, and Della.
The summer months keep the mountains just as busy but with a different set of recreational activities. Down-hill bikers, hikers, and BMX riders find adventure and challenge in the diverse terrain. River and park activities are also popular and include swimming, kayaking, fishing, ice skating, horse riding and picnicking.
