Lewiston is a city in and the county seat of Nez Perce County in the state of Idaho. It is located at the convergence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers, thirty miles northwest of the Lower Granite Dam. Lewiston is also the principal city of the Lewiston, ID - Clarkston, WA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Port of Lewiston is the only seaport in Idaho and is the farthest inland port east of the West Coast of the United States. Because of the dams and locks along the Snake and Columbia rivers, Lewiston is reachable by some ocean-going vessels.

Lewiston hosts the Dogwood Festival each spring during the blossoming of the abundant dogwood trees that fill the city. During and shortly after the festival these pink blossoms blow through yards and streets like drifts of snow creating an exceptional aesthetic. Each fall the city is once again covered, this time when the cottonwood trees release their cotton-like clouds of seeds.

Christmas and Easter festivities include a number of lighted displays in the downtown area. The Lewiston Jaycees have two large lighted displays on the Lewiston Hill in the shape of a star and a cross. These huge displays are visible from nearly everywhere in the valley and are left burning 24 hours a day through each season. The Hot August Nights celebrations include concerts by classic 1950s to 1980s musicians, a classic car show and a night parade along Main Street. Other festivals in the city include the Avista NAIA World Series and the Lewiston Round Up.

Attractions in and around Lewiston include Lewis-Clark State College, rafting or kayaking down Salmon River Canyons, Hells National Canyon Recreation area, Nez Perce County Historical Society Museum, Clearwater River Casino and hot air ballooning.
