Crown Point is a city in and the county seat of Lake County in the state of Indiana. It is located in the most north-western part of the state and is about one hour’s drive across the state border from Chicago.

Solon Robinson and his family were the first people to settle in the area now known as Crown Point. In 1837 Robinson built a wooden county courthouse which went on to earn the town its appointment of county seat. In 1868 Crown Point was incorporated into a city. The courthouse was replaced by a frame building in 1849 and in 1878 construction began to upgrade to an architecturally designed larger and more ornate building. Towers were added in 1907 and the building was dedicated in 1909. The Old Lake County Court House resides in the centre of Crown Point and is lovingly referred to by locals as The Grand Old Lady. It now contains gift shops, a restaurant and a museum.

Today Crown Point presents a cheerful hometown atmosphere balanced with modern facilities. Its close proximity to Chicago and Lake Michigan beaches make it an appealing holiday destination whilst the unique shops, parks and schools engage long term visitors and residents.

The Lake County Fair is held at the Lake County Fairgrounds in the south of the city early each August for 10 days. The fairgrounds themselves are stunning with historic brick exhibition buildings, Fancher Lake, picturesque pathways and vegetation, and the county's only covered bridge. The historic grandstands are the setting for monster truck and demolition derbies. Horse shows are held in their own separate arena.

Memorial Day, Independence Day, and St. Patrick's Day festivals include parades and the Corn Roast and the Taste of Crown Point centre around food.

Deep River Water Park is a great feature in Crown Point. It is open year-round and in the winter doubles as an ice skating venue. Other attractions in and around the city include the Crown Point Speedway, Flip's Cascade Mountain, Hoosier Pleasure Riders Motorcycle Club, Inman's Recreation Centre, NWIBike.com, Pines Peak Family Ski Area, The Scuba Tank and Splash Down Dunes.
