Evansville is a city in and the county seat of Vanderburgh County in the state of Indiana. It is located on the south-western edge of the state between Mount Vernon and Newburgh. Evansville is the regional hub for both South-western Indiana and the Illinois-Indiana-Kentucky Tri-State Area and is the third largest city in the state.

Evansville was settled on a horseshoe bend on the Ohio River in 1812. The river was named by early French explorers La Belle Riviere, meaning the Beautiful River, and the town has since been referred to as the River City.

Toward the end of the 20th century, Evansville became the commercial, medical, and service centre for Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. Today the city’s stable and diverse economy provides an array of opportunities for personal and business ventures. One of the most popular attractions in the region is the Casino Aztar, a 2,700 passenger riverboat casino situated at Riverfront Park on the Ohio River.
