Hammond is a city in Lake County in the state of Indiana. It is located in the north-western most part of the state 26 miles south-east of Chicago and less than 10 miles south of beautiful Lake Michigan. Hammond is also part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is home to the Gary/Chicago International Airport.

Hammond is one of the oldest cities in Lake County and began as a crossroad for Indian tribes, stagecoach lines and supply lines to the West. George Henry Hammond was a pioneer in the use of refrigerated railcars, primarily used to transport fresh meat, and ran a small packing company in Detroit, Michigan. In 1870s, Hammond built a new plant along the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad and his company expanded remarkably, challenging distribution of the giant Chicago Packers. The City of Hammond rose around his business and housing, schooling and resources developed quickly. When Hammond passed away in 1886, the company was bought out and merged into Chicago’s National Packing Co.

Today Hammond is the most populated City in Lake County with streets laid out in a grid pattern similar to that of Chicago. The city’s ideal position both close to Lake Michigan and Chicago allow residents and visitors an endless choice of recreational and professional options.

One of Hammond’s largest attractions is the Horseshoe Casino, situated just 20 minutes from downtown Chicago. The Horseshoe boasts over 350,000 square feet of casino floor consisting of 3,000 slot machines, over 100 world-class table games and the largest poker room in the Midwest. Cuisine at the casino ranges from Fine Dining to Buffets menus to the legendary Jack Binion's Steak House. The centre of Horseshoe Casino features Push, a 360 degree view bar that pulsates with live music, incredible nightlife, large screen TV’s and gaming machines. On the same premises resides The Venue, a modern concert and entertainment facility that hosts a variety of world renowned performers.

Other attractions in and around Hammond include the Navy Pier, Willis Tower, National Museum of Mexican Art, Adler Planetarium, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre on Navy Pier, Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago Children's Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry. For outdoor and water recreation there is Whihala Beach, Wolf Lake and the Hammond Marina.
